Ashlynn Malia

Los Angeles-based artist Ashlynn Malia uses songwriting as a way to understand her own mind. Malia has been working as a professional in the entertainment industry since the age of 10, as a singer (Kidz Bop) and a dancer (notably featured in music videos by the likes of Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift) - all while quietly writing her own material and steadily refining her artistic voice.

Now 21 years old, Malia’s music provides a vibrant portal to her inner world. Her songs are deeply personal and effortlessly flow across genres, garnering inspiration from honest storytellers and forward-thinkers such as Lorde and FKA Twigs. -And yet, the musical landscape she creates is all her own.

Her debut EP, rather be alone (2021) is a sonic expression of her journey through doubt, frustration, vulnerability, and ultimately self-acceptance. The EP includes her leading single “desperate”, which has already accumulated over 1 million streams on Spotify and is featured in an episode of Stephen King’s The Stand on CBS All Access.

With early support from publications such as NYLON and Flaunt and a catalog of new music on the way, Malia is an artist to keep a close eye on in 2022.
